Garrett & Laura | Engaged

Engagements

Red Rocks and Mt Flacon East Engagement

I know I have said this before, but if there is one thing that I love about being a photographer, it’s getting to meet and work with some of the BEST couples ever. After the biggest 2021 Colorado snowstorm so far, I met up with Garrett and Laura for their Red Rocks Engagement. Right away, I knew I was going to adore these two! They have such outstanding personalities and are so full of love and laughter! Even though much of the snow from the two-foot Snowmageddon was still on the ground, they were willing to go where ever to get these fantastic photos!

Garrett and Laura’s Love Story

You know it’s going to be a good story when being swooned is involved! 🙂 Garrett lived next door to Laura’s friend and, after a while, became adopted into the friend group. Of course, this is where Laura and Garrett grew closer, but even with mini lunch dates, Laura did not see this as a love connection. While Laura was gone for summer, Garrett was catching the “feels”! As they talked about the possibility of Laura dating a younger guy, it was a resounding No and a list of reasons why. Garrett was tenacious and had his list of why it would be a good idea. So once Laura returned from her summer travels, Garrett started the swooning, and Laura finally agreed to be his girlfriend!

A Hike, a possible murderer and a Proposal

That brings us to my favorite part, the proposal! I love a great proposal story, especially when the unexpected happens! It was Labor Day weekend, and on a whim, after several plans had changed, Garrett and Laura headed to Colorado Springs for a bit of a getaway. They were planning to go hiking and stay the night. Usually, when you go hiking, you dress super comfortable, t-shirts, stretchy pants, or shorts, but Garrett was dressed a bit nicer than this. Laura had no idea what was in store for her, even though she was making fun of his clothing choice for hiking. I would have done the same thing to my husband 🙂

Once in Colorado Springs, they traveled around to find a hiking area that wasn’t super crowded but still had great views. They found their hike, and off they went. Garrett could see a place he really wanted to get to, but they had to keep hiking higher and higher, and trails weren’t leading there. They finally climbed a steep and rocky hill to get to their destination. After a few moments to grab a snack, Garrett leads Laura to a giant rock to sit on with a spectacular view.

It was perfect, except for the white figure that Laura kept seeing out of the corner of her eye, which kept her a little distracted! Garrett tried to bring her attention back to him, but that can be a little difficult when you think there’s a murderer nearby…She’s braver than me; I would have said I’m out of here LOL

After a few minutes, those feelings turned into surprise and disbelief as Garrett knelt and asked Laura to marry him. After saying Yes and lots of hugs, Garrett had another surprise. Two of their friends were hiding to capture this special moment for them. So the figure wasn’t a murderer after all 🙂 Just great friends who helped make the best of this memorable moment.

That brings us to now, and we are so ready to photograph their wedding on April 16, 2021. I am so grateful to have Garrett and Laura as part of our photography family! Keep scrolling to check out their gorgeous and snowy engagement photos at Red Rocks and Mt Falcon East in Morrison, Colorado.
