Tyler & Pennie

Iowa Taproom Wedding

Des Moines, Iowa November 11, 2022

The temperatures might have been frigid for Tyler and Pennies’ big day, BUT the love they share is anything less than priceless.
When we met Tyler & Pennie in 2020, they were part of the Wedding Party for one of our previous couples. They were so much fun and told us they wanted us to photograph their wedding whenever they got engaged. So a few weeks after meeting Tyler and Pennie, we were so excited to get the news that they were engaged and still wanted us as their photographers. 🙂 Pennie brought me to tears when she said they didn’t even look at other photographers. It was 100% us all along, and when they invited us to bring our youngest daughter to their wedding, we were beyond grateful. Tyler and Pennie are a genuinely selfless and compassionate couple to everyone around them.

Winter Like Day

We all were secretly hoping the weather in Des Moines would magically change; I mean, two days before their wedding, it was 68 degrees. However, it did not change. Christopher and I made a last-minute effort to make sure everyone would be somewhat warm and stocked up on hand and small body warmers.

When we arrived at the hotel on the morning of their big day 11/11/22, everyone was in great spirits, laughing and enjoying being together. The hardest thing was ensuring Tyler and Pennie didn’t run into each other before their first look since they were getting ready at the same hotel. We made it work!!
With her mom helping her, Pennie stepped into her floral lace princess-style wedding gown. As the getting ready finishing touches were done, Tyler and Christopher headed to the Capital building to prepare Tyler for his first look with Pennie.

As Pennie arrived, we knew we needed to move quickly, it was cold, and the wind only made it more frigid. With Pennie and Tyler in their spots, Pennie called Tyler’s name. He turned to the stunning sight of his soon-to-be gorgeous wife standing there. It was such a sweet moment between them; they both were so happy. We quickly got photos there at the capital and then called it good. Then we headed to the venue for more photos, with the wedding party and some fun bride and groom photos downstairs in Kens Speak Easy.

Time to say I Do

While guests arrived, they were greeted by the beautiful melodies of the talented Caleb Polashek, violinist. With everyone was being seated, it was time for Tyler and Pennie to walk down the aisle. Once the wedding party was in their spots, Pennie entered the room, escorted by her brother James. With the violinist playing I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You, which was her mom and Dads wedding song :)No one could take their eyes off Pennie. Pennies, long-time family friend, and Pasture Jeramy eloquently officiated the ceremony. The vows Tyler and Pennie shared were endearing and filled with joy and love. With their family and friends there to celebrate and cheer, they said their ” I DO’s,” and Tyler kissed his Bride!

As the reception and Party got on the way, we snuck off with Tyler and Pennie one last time for some nighttime champagne pop photos with the beautiful Iowa State Capital in the distance. It was an entertaining way to end the evening with two amazing people we love dearly.

Tyler and Pennie, words can not describe how grateful we are for your friendship, love, and kindness. We have loved getting to know you and can’t wait to see all the fantastic adventures you will have in this new chapter of your life. Plus, we are super excited for a game night and for Tyler to meet our bears 🙂 Congratulations, you two. We love you so much!
