When Kevin, Cara, and I met for their engagement session earlier this year, I immediately fell in love with them. Between getting to know them that day and having them be willing to try new things, they genuinely are fantastic! They have the cutest love story and celebrate a special day; January 19th is their St. Marks Day. You must read their engagement post to see what that day is about 🙂 It’s the cutest thing. And now, August 13th, 2022, will have just as special meaning to them.

The Special Day

That morning Christopher and I arrived at the different locations where the wedding parties were getting ready. Christopher hung out with the guys and found out about their getaway car, a 1969 Chevy owned by his grandfather and had been in the family since; remember the truck for later. He listened to the story of how Kevin’s friends talked down a person who pulled a knife on Kevin and the sweet sentiment of having the Just Married sign that his mom and dad, Jerry and Lisa, used when they married. So much love and emotion surrounding the guys. With drinks in hand, they toasted to Kevin and his soon to bride.

I spent time with the brides and bridesmaids and loved every minute of it. It’s not very often I arrive, and the Bride’s makeup and hair is done. But today was different, and Cara was ready to roll! She was looking super cute in her “Barbie Bride” attire. I loved her long pink sheer robe with her bright pink lettered bride shirt. All her girls were so helpful and fun to be around. They all made me feel so welcome. Then the time came for Cara to slip into her wedding gown. Between her hair and makeup and the fullness of the breathtaking gown Morilee by Madeline Gardner. She was glamourous, elegant, and enchanting, all wrapped up in one. We kept calling the dress “floofy” because every time she would move or spin, it just “floofed” out perfectly. It was a dream dress. But what made it even more than a dress were all the sentimental touches adorning her. Caras bouquet held two special pins in the florals, one for each grandmother on her side and Kevins. Then on the ribbon were two cat pins, so she would have her fur baby while the other watched over her from heaven. On her garter was a heart charm, she put a sixpence in her shoe and then had a small pin in her dress with two charms on that as well. And I can’t forget about her veil; it was the first time I had ever seen a bride wear a Juliet cap veil. It was stunning!!! Everything was so timeless and heartfelt. As we finished getting ready, it was time to head to Mt Carmel for their ceremony!

Saying I Do in a beautiful Chapel

Christopher and I have had the opportunity to photograph a few Catholic Weddings; it’s so fascinating how each church is different. Some are more ornate than others, some have better lighting than others, and some take your breath away. This Chapel was one of those where you walked it, and it was awe-inspiring. From the lush red carpet, stained glass windows, and the amazingly ornate statues of Christ, Mary, and Saints. I had never seen anything like it. Then they turned the lights on and WOW!!!!! Everything at that moment just lit up. It was one of the most gorgeous Catholic churches I have ever seen.

As Kevin took his place at the alter, with his best friends standing next to him and Cara’s best friends waiting for her, Cara stepped into view. Everyone was captivated, but the look on Kevins’ face as he couldn’t take his eyes off her was priceless. With everyone seated, Father Hugh officiated their ceremony. It was so thoughtful, and the Chapel was filled with love from their family and friends. Tears were shed during vows, and cheers and applause rang through the church as Kevin and Cara were announced, husband and wife.

We headed over to the boathouse at City Park for photos with just Kevin and Cara. As we were heading there, we got a phone call I never thought I would receive. Cara was on the other end; the 1969 Chevy Truck, their getaway car, had broken down just blocks away from the park. It was our first ever “rescue” 🙂 And we were so happy we were so close to pick them up and still make it in time for photos.

Time to Party!

Once we finished up with photos, we headed to Upper Larimer, where everyone was waiting to greet and congratulate the newlyweds.

And when the DJ, Andrew, cranked up the music, the guests flooded the floor. Many stopped to chat with Kevin and Cara and to give hugs and well wishes. But when Taylor Swift was playing, you can bet that the Bride and her girls were dancing their hearts out.

As the party came to a close, the guests headed outside to prepare to wish the happy couple farewell. Kevin and Cara took to the dance floor one last time for their Private Dance as Husband and Wife. When their final song was over, they made their way outside, where Rose Pink Confetti canons popped, and their loved ones cheered. They made their way to their getaway car to enjoy their evening together and get ready to head out on their honeymoon the following day to Paris.

Congratulations, Kevin and Cara! We are so grateful that we were a part of your day and got to celebrate you with all of your amazing friends and family. We can’t wait to see what this new newlywed life has in store for the two of you.
