Sprague Lake Engagement

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

For Grant and Marissa, Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park is a special spot. It’s the place Grant asked Marissa to be his wife, but we’ll get into that in a second 🙂 Sprague lake has such an iconic Colorado Mountain backdrop, and people travel from all over the United States and the World to visit the park. We had great weather for Grant and Marissa’s engagement session, and it wasn’t very crowded. As much as I love Sprague Lake, our second location, the Moraine Valley, is what took my breath away. The way the light was spilling into the valley and the fact that we had a herd of deer in the background was magical! Keep reading!

Grant and Marissa are so cute together! I loved being around them; we had such a great time, and even when I would abruptly stop because we just had to take a picture, they were game!

Grant and Marissa’s Love Story

Their love story starts four years ago where they both attended the University of Central Missouri and lived in the same dorm building. Once they met, they walked to the local campus coffee shop, laughing and joking the whole time there. Soon after returning to their separate dorm rooms, Grant started following Marissa on Instagram, where he asked if they could hang out again. They ended up hanging out that night and talked until three in the morning.

With not a whole lot to do in their college town, Grant took Marissa to Buffalo Wild Wings to enjoy Wing Wednesday for their first date. As they talked, they found out that they grew up going to the same small lake as kids. They knew then that this was going to be something special! 🙂 After about six months, they started planning their first trip to our beautiful state, Colorado, to celebrate their first anniversary. They fell in love with Colorado, and Grant knew that this was the place to do it when he proposed.

A Rocky Mountain Proposal

Days turned into Months and Months into years together. After three years, Grant and Marissa planned another trip to Colorado. This time with Grant’s family to celebrate Grant’s graduation! YAY! 🙂 They were all heading to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. This was going to be a memorable vacation for sure. On the pier at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, Grant proposed to Marissa and asked her to be Best Friends Forever 🙂 Talk about the sweetest proposal!

One of my favorite things to do is ask my couples what they love most about each other. Grant and Marissa have some of the most lovely comments about each other…

Marissa “What I love about Grant is how funny and caring he is. He has a soft side that not a lot of people get to see. Grant is also so dedicated to anything he does, and once he sets his mind to something, he will follow through. I love how his priorities are always in order and how I’m in the top. Grant is such a good friend and partner; he will always have their backs and support me with whatever I want to do. He is very family-oriented and patient as well, which makes me excited for our future together. At the end of the day, he always makes me feel loved.”

Grant “What I love about Marissa is how caring & devoted she is. She is both honest & loyal & supports me every step of the way through life. Marissa embraces all of me, including my flaws & never lets a day go by without letting me know how much she loves me. She carries a positive attitude every day & always knows how to make me laugh & smile, which is why I have always felt my most comfortable around her. She also fits right in & embraces my family as her own, which has always stood out to me as one of her many amazing qualities! I am so grateful to have both a best friend & lover in the same person & can not wait to spend the rest of my life with her!”

Congratulations, Grant and Marissa. I am so excited for the two of you to be able to share your life and love! I know your wedding will be fantastic, and I wish you all the happiness and joy in the World!
