Dean and Chay’s love story is not your typical love story, and I think that’s why I love it so much!
They first met online, Dean reached out to Chay, and she was unsure to answer since she was preparing to go on a Mission in a year for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. For these young adults to willing give and serve for 18-24 months is a sacrifice and testament to their love for the Lord. When Chay returned from her mission, she decided to take the leap and message Dean back, low and behold he was still waiting, unknowingly 🙂 for her. The rest as Chay would say is History. Their first date started at Ernesto’s Mexican Restaurant in Prosper Texas, then afterward continued for 3 hours where they talked and watched youtube videos in Deans car. I love how Chay put it “We both love video games and nerdy stuff.”
Above all, I think my favorite part of their story is the proposal. The time and thought that Dean put into it is so sweet, and it relates so closely to both of them. I have watched my family play Minecraft and have seen some of the fantastic things that you can build and create, but I don’t think anything has impressed me as much as Deans proposal to Chay. They both love the game Minecraft, so Dean created a World for Chay to play and explore for a little while. What she didn’t know was that Dean had created small tasks for her to do throughout the game. Chay’s final task was to walk into a garden designed by Dean in Minecraft and read the sign. The sign read…Turn Around, and as Chay turned around, Dean was on one knee proposing. The thought that went into their proposal was so sweet and loving, and so in tune with each other, it just melts my heart. Chay, of course, said yes and they were married in Prosper, Texas on June 13th, 2015.
Dean and Chay both are converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but after Chay returned from her mission, she knew she wanted to be Sealed in the LDS Temple for Time and All Eternity. Her prayers were answered and on June, 15th 2019 at the Denver LDS Temple. Dean and Chay were sealed together, and I am so thrilled that I not only got to be their photographer, but I had the special blessing of Chay asking me to join them in the Sealing room. It was a moment I will never forget as I got to watch as these two amazing people were sealed together for Time and All Eternity.
