Beautiful Colorado Fall Wedding at the Steel Horse Inn

This is a moment we will never forget!

In the quaint little town of Villa Grove Colorado, there’s a charming rustic venue. It offers the most fantastic wedding opportunity, the Steel Horse Inn. When Ethan and Sabrina were looking at places to hold their wedding, they stumbled upon this incredible venue nestled in the mountains and surrounded by nature. Certainly knowing Sabrina and Ethan for so long, I knew when they showed me photos of this place, it was perfect for them. I kept my fingers crossed as they ventured down one weekend to visit the Steel Horse Inn. I was thrilled when they told me they loved the place. Obviously they would for sure be having their wedding there. I remember Sabrina explaining the quietest, secluded little area where they would have their ceremony.

What I had pictured in my mind didn’t do the venue or ceremony area justice. The happy couple spent the eve of their wedding day on the property. Sabrina was in one of the six rooms they offer for the bridal party, family, and friends. Ethan and some of his guys were a bit more adventurous.

They spent the night in the tent on one of the properties many tent sites, in below-freezing temperatures. 🙂 I think that is was makes this place so unique. You can have your friends and family right there with you the whole time. It is here, on a bright Autumn day in October, Ethan and Sabrina woke to celebrate the best day of their lives.

Let the Day Begin

The morning was all celebration and laughter. However, when we arrived at the Steel Horse it was a crisp 14 degrees at eight in the morning. Thank heavens, we knew it was going to warm up as the day continued. The sun was shining bright, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky! As the beautiful Bride began getting ready, her loving groom checked in on everything. He wanted to make sure things were running smoothly. Sabrina put on her gorgeous flower lace overlay ballgown. With a stunning crystal belt and beautiful buttons down the back, her bridesmaids were busy making sure to fluff her gown and tie the bow to perfection!

I loved how willing her Bridesmaids were to help her with her dress. No matter what, they were on point for photos! They all looked so gorgeous in the dresses they chose to wear. Sabrina and Ethan decided to go with a fantastic purple that accented the oasis blue. Her Maid of Honor, Meg, was by her side the whole morning helping carry her train, flowers, whatever she needed!

Meanwhile, the groom and his groomsmen took their time getting ready. 🙂 As we shuffled them to the front of the Venue for some photos, they were more than ready to indulge me in helping each other. Each one of the groomsmen straightened their vests and bowties. They made sure Ethan looked top-notch. He was decked out in a fantastic Grey suit with an amazing black pocket square. He also had a gorgeous gray tie with black printed flowers. Watching the interactions with his best buds made my heart full as they were all so connected.

Each one of them drove a little over two and a half hours one way to be apart of Ethan and Sabrina’s special day.  As the last “getting ready” photo was taken, the time had arrived for their First Look. We headed into the small wooded area at the back of the Venue and had Ethan stand near the changing Aspen.

The First Look

When Sabrina began walking out to meet Ethan, I asked him if he was ready to see his bride. The answers was in his eyes before he even said yes. Sabrina stood a few feet back from Ethan. When she was ready called his name for him to turn around.  The look of awe that Ethan had on his face held more emotion then any words spoken could express. As they walked to each other, it was complete silence. They just continued to look at each other with so much love and devotion.

After they had some time to take each other in (and get a few photos in), it was time to get these two to the alter. I was utterly astounded when I walked over to the ceremony site, which you would never know was there. It looked like a gorgeous field of beautifully fall colored bushes. Over the bridge and into the brush, it opened up to the most secluded and serene ceremony site. The mountains stood off in the distance, peeking up in the background from the alter. Everyone was in place, family and friends were seated, and it was time to walk down the aisle.

Time to Say “I DO”

Ethan came down the aisle with his good friend Paul who was also their Officiator. Next, the Bridal Party came in. Consisting of their sisters, brothers, and best friends, made their way to stand with Ethan and Sabrina. Finally, it was time for everyone else to have the chance to see the blushing bride. With the song, This Is It by Scotty McCreery playing Sabrina entered the clearing. She took her last steps as Ethan’s fiance.  As Sabrina walked down the aisle in her stunning wedding dress, she was positively glowing. Ethan couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Smiles, tears of joy, and sniffles abounded around them.

The ceremony was just as I would imagine, filled with loving words. Ethan and Sabrina exchanged vows they had written for each other. We all had a good laugh as Ethan said he made a list of what he wanted in a wife. He then proceeded to pull out a book… it was a fitting touch.

The vows they wrote to each other were full of joy and so much love. As they looked at each other while saying their vows, you could see that these two remarkable people were meant for each other. Then the time came, Paul asked the biggest question of the day. With a resounding “I DO” from both Ethan and Sabrina, Paul pronounced them Husband and Wife. Cheers erupted, and all their friends and family knew it was time to party!

Welcome Mr. and Mrs. Haley

Surrounded by the time and efforts of their family and friends to decorate the reception area and with the delicious smells of homemade tacos in the background, the bridal party came in, and then Ethan and Sabrina entered for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Haley!!!!

The festivities lasted all day, with dancing, a fantastic photo booth provided by the Steel Horse Inn, games, and the best thing ever, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts! Meg and Xavier, the Maid of Honor and Best Man, gave heartfelt and sincere toasts full of joy, love, and stories of their friendship they have with Ethan and Sabrina. Now I mentioned Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Sabrina and Ethan are not big fans of cake, so their “cake cutting” was a giant Rose Bud from one of their favorite places Daylight Donuts.

Did someone say Party

And Finally, it was time for Ethan and Sabrina to take to the dance floor for their official first dance as husband and wife, as they danced to Soja’s You and Me, it was sweet, playful and loving. Halfway through the song, they encouraged everyone to join them and share the moment with them. My favorite moment was Sabrina’s Ooma busting a move on the dance floor; she was so cute dancing away.

As the party came to a close, family and friends congratulated the happy couple with hugs and laughter. After making sure we got our cow photos 🙂 Ethan and Sabrina headed off to get changed into some warmer clothes and more comfortable clothing.

I am so thrilled and honored I was able to document Ethan and Sabrina’s big day, and I can’t wait to see where life takes them! Check out some of the photos from their breathtaking Steel Horse in Colorado Mountain wedding, and let me know which ones are your favorites in the comments, or if you were able to make it to the wedding, what was one of your favorite happenings?
