Gorgeous Fall Engagement | Hudson Gardens Event Center

October 08, 2020

Daniel, Meagen, and I had the odds stacked against for their engagement session! Between the smoke-filled skies, no rain, and everyone saying the fall colors were changing too quickly. I was praying for a miracle for their session date, and Meagen was holding onto her lucky stone! Colorado graciously worked with us, and we had the best time during their engagement session at the Hudson Gardens Event Center. And the Fall Colors were Popping!!! It was a blast wandering around the Monet Garden, stopping in all the little nooks and crannies to get some epic photos!

When I first met Daniel and Meagen, I was super excited to have the opportunity to be their photographer. They have this wonderful kind, loving playfulness about them. Plus, I adore their love story; someone got kicked out for this love story to unfold! 🙂

A Room for Rent

Daniel and Meagen are both from the small town of Kremmling, Colorado, which is on the Western Slope near the cute towns of Winter Park and Grandby. Their love story is unique because they weren’t High School Sweethearts, but they did know each other in High School. They had a lot of mutual friends. Meagen had left Kremmling, though, and after a nine-year absence, she came back for a job.

Daniel had heard from a friend that Meagen was looking for a place to stay. He graciously had a room for rent… sort of 🙂 When Daniel found out about Meagen, he kicked out the person living in the second room so Meagen could rent it. I am pretty sure you can see where this is going! 🙂 🙂

Hanging Out all the Time

After months of them hanging out together all the time, Daniel was thrown under the bus. His friend came clean and told Meagen that Daniel liked her. Come on, he kicked someone out so she could take the room. If that isn’t something sweet, I don’t know what is! Needless to say, Meagen had feelings for Daniel, too, so they finally made it Official.

The Proposal

Daniel is such a sweet guy; he not only held onto Meagen’s engagement ring for a month, he asked for her dad’s blessing too. This part of their story had me grabbing a kleenex. You don’t hear about that very often anymore, and I find it so romantic and an honorable gesture. They were in Montana for a family reunion when he asked her dad. To pop the big question, Daniel was trying to get Meagen to go on hikes, walks, even a trip to Estes Park. She kept rejecting his ideas, so he took matters into his own hands. Surrounded by their pets and on their back patio, Meagen’s serenity spot, he got down on one knee and asked her. It was absolutely perfect!!

Daniel and Meagen’s Engagement Session

That brings us to now! I always send my couples a questionnaire. I love getting to know them and finding out what they like, what they do together, and one of my favorite questions is “What is your favorite thing about your soon to be spouse”? They couples I have always have the sweetest things to say about each other. Meagen and Daniel weren’t any different.

Meagen’s response:
“My favorite thing about Daniel is his personality. Daniel has such a great sense of humor and can always make me laugh.. He is also so loyal and kind and is always willing to help no matter what.”

Daniels Response
“My favorite thing about Meagen is that she is the smartest, most selfless, kind, caring, independent, beautiful women that I’ve ever met”

You could see this during our session. Meagen and Daniel were so willing to do stuff together, and I love that they are so playful. Daniel swooped Meagen up over his shoulder at one spot; it was the best!

I am so grateful that I get to be such a big part of their big day in 2021. I had so much fun with Daniel and Meagen and can’t wait to photograph their wedding!
