Engagements

Millennium Bridge and Commons Park Engagement

Downtown Denver Colorado

When Theresa and Ryan reached out to me inquiring about our wedding photography, I was struck immediately by how kind and happy they were! It felt like we hit it off just through emailing back and forth. But I never could have guessed how much fun they’d be in person! They told me their vision for the session, and they wanted more of an urban feel because we plan to do more nature for their wedding. So we headed to downtown Denver to the Milllennieum Bridge and Commons Park area.

I have come to love that area. Meeting up with Theresa and Ryan was fantastic. What is most incredible about this pair is undeniably their love for each other. So, as we prepared for their engagement session (I think this was our third try 🙂 ya got to love Colorado weather ), I grew more excited by the day to spend time with them and document their captivating love story.

It all Began at School

Ryan and Theresa met in 2015 while attending the same Optometry school in Houston, Texas. However, their love story didn’t start until the second semester, when they found each other on Tinder. Tinder allowed them to playfully banter back and forth. Then Spring Break came around, and instead of heading home, they stayed in Houston with a group of friends. This was when they really got to know each other, and like Theresa says, “the rest is history .” But on their first date, I bet they didn’t imagine they’d someday be laughing and dancing during a Downtown Denver engagement session with their wedding day on the horizon!

A Picnic Proposal

2020 held many surprises for people and the World, but it also held the best surprise for Theresa. On June 28th, 2020, Ryan planned a fun little picnic at Wash Park. It was during quarantine, so Theresa and Ryan spent a lot of time people, or more like puppy watching there 🙂 This particular picnic wouldn’t be like any other. Ryan proposed to Theresa with her best friend and her boyfriend hiding to take photos. Now they are planning to say I do in less than three months! I can’t wait to see it all come to life!

Engagement Session Time

Ryan and Theresa are ROCKSTARS, it was chilly and somewhat windy, but they pushed through it and we captured some amazing images. They made my job super easy. As we took their engagement photos, they were so easy to guide and educate. We captured their love uniquely between laughing, joking, staying warm, and popping the champagne! Theresa had one simple request: we get a “bum lift” photo. So I got them set up with the city in the background and explained how to do the lift, and BAM, we created magic. That image is one of my favorites, you’ll see it down below.

I love when our couples have ideas for things they would like to do during their engagement session. I could have honestly spent hours taking photos of these two but I knew we all needed to warm up.
We took are last few photos finished up, said our goodbyes, and headed home. Then my phone dings with a text from Theresa saying thank you for a great time and to let me know that Ryan was excited about the photos! You have NO idea how excited I was to read that and how full it makes my heart feel! Knowing that I was able to help my couples feel comfortable and actually enjoy their time in front of the camera is my goal every single time! She also let me know a fun little fact, it was their seven-year dating anniversary. So what a perfect way to celebrate with their engagement session.

When it comes to engagement sessions, the most important thing I can do as your photographer is create the images of your dreams that bring your personalities to life, delivering on these wishes is so rewarding!
But let’s be honest: how could the images be anything less than STUNNING with a pair like this in front of my lens!

Whether these images become the cute magnets on the fridges of their loved ones or just the art decorating their new home, I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to start telling Ryan and Theresa’s love story. This was an awe-inspiring fun-filled Millinnieum Bridge engagement session.

Ryan and Theresa, Congratulations on your engagement! I hope these next few months before your wedding are effortless and filled with joy!
